In line with the national plans, Dubai rolled out the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 that intends to have 75% of its power output from clean energy by 2050. This would significantly reduce the GHG emission from the utility sector in the emirate. The Shams Dubai initiative which is a net metering system was also launched by the Dubai government to boost uptake of rooftop solar. To integrate renewable energy into buildings there is a need for qualified professionals. LEED Green Associate professionals can play an important role in such transformation.
